Canvish
Main Features: Canvish is a slang translator that translates user-input text into different English dialects and styles. Currently supported translation styles include: Scottish, British, Shakespearian, American, Irish, Gen Z, Australian, Bronx, Canadian, Texan, West coast, Northumbrian, Miami, and Caribbean.
How it Works: Canvish is powered by OpenAI GPT, using the GPT-3.5 model. User input is pre-processed on their server, then sent to the OpenAI Moderation API to check for unsafe content. If the content is not identified as 'harmful', it is sent to GPT-3.5 embedded in a prompt. The output of GPT is finally processed and delivered as a stream.
Usage Instructions & Limitations:
- The product's current status displays: "Product deactivated: You can't use it!".
- The free version can only accept a limited number of queries per day, with an input character limit of 150.
- Some dialects (e.g., Gen Z, Australian, Bronx, Canadian, etc.) are marked with a 🔒 and require unlocking.
- Input must follow OpenAI's policies; accounts that don't follow these policies may be suspended without a refund.
- A moderation system is in place to reject any text judged potentially harmful. However, this moderation system is not 100% accurate: it may detect unsafe content as safe and vice-versa.
- Text is translated by an AI; the meaning of the translation may differ from the entered text and will express various biases.
Pricing & Payment: Operates on a Freemium model. The free version has daily query limits and a 150-character cap. Users can purchase a 1-year license to unlock all functionalities, all dialects (removing the lock), longer input, and (almost) unlimited access. The license is valid for one year and is refundable. With a license, users can translate up to 1,000,000 characters, which is deemed enough for casual use; if more is needed, users can contact contact@canvish.com. Accepted payment methods include all payment methods supported by Stripe, and all payments are in US dollars.
Typical Use Cases:
- Translating standard English into Scottish English: "I would like a train ticket. Can I use my family pass?" -> "Oi, I'd like a train ticket. Dae yer take a family pass?"
- Translating into Shakespearian English: "My computer is broken and can't fix it. Time to grab an ice cream!" -> "Verily, mine computer hath been struck with a malady, and alas, I cannot mend it. 'Tis time to seize an ice cream cone and soothe mine woes."
Data & Privacy:
- All data sent and received is stored for 1 month. Data is not used to improve systems (e.g., train new models) but may be used to debug a functionality at the user's request.
- Data retention mirrors OpenAI policy (who also saves data for 1 month) in case OpenAI requests information about suspicious activity.
- The use of Canvish output for reverse engineering or developing a similar product is prohibited. Detection of such attempts will lead to account suspension and legal pursuits may follow.
